Savandurga

Savandurga is one of the biggest Monoliths in this part of the country and is often frequented by climbers et al. It is on the State highway (or a pathetic excuse for it) linking Ramnagar and Magadi. It is about 70 kms from Bangalore through Magadi and 12 kms from Magadi.

Climbing this is as much fun as the route you choose to do it in. Can take pretty challenging ones too if you are up to it. The easy route would take you to the top in about an hour and the view from up there can be quite disastrous for the Acrophobic ;-)

The day we went there, the weather was as pleasant as Bangalore could have and I actually saw cloud cover at heights as low as this!!!

Btw, the day was Dec 3, 2k5 and we = Moch and myself ;-)

On the way back, we stopped over to have a look at the Thippagondanahalli Reservoir which is one of the important sources of water to dear Bengalooru .... Another place to visit for anyone considering this is to go to Manchinabele dam, accessible through a diversion on the Magadi road and is also linked to Mysore road through the Big Banyan tree.
